You don’t need a designer budget to refresh your home. Often, it’s about using what you have in better ways and adding a few well-chosen pieces instead of buying everything new.
Start by decluttering. Removing tired, broken or meaningless items gives breathing space to the pieces you actually like. Sometimes a room feels “updated” simply because it’s no longer overloaded.
Rearrange furniture before replacing it. Try a different layout: move the sofa, shift a chair, swap side tables between rooms. A new arrangement can make old furniture feel surprisingly fresh.
Textiles are your secret weapon. New cushion covers, a different rug, fresh curtains or even a throw over a worn sofa can change the visual language of a room. Choose colours and patterns that work together rather than randomly.
Plants—real or good-quality faux—add life for relatively little cost. A couple of well-placed green spots make any space feel more cared for.
Finally, group decor. Instead of spreading many small items all over, create 2–3 focused “moments”—a styled shelf, a tray on the coffee table, a simple entry console. It looks intentional and tidy, even with budget-friendly pieces.
