Not everyone has the time or habit to pamper plants daily. If you know you sometimes forget watering, it’s better to choose tough, forgiving plants instead of high-maintenance divas.
Succulents like jade, haworthia and aloe vera handle missed waterings much better than thirsty flowers. They store water in their leaves and prefer drying out between drinks. Just make sure the pot has good drainage.
Snake plant (mother-in-law’s tongue) and ZZ plant are famous survivors. They can tolerate low light and irregular watering and still look fresh. They’re perfect for shaded balconies or even just inside near windows.
Areca and other palms can also be reasonably low-care if you don’t overwater them. A regular but not obsessive watering schedule works fine.
Herbs like mint or basil need a bit more attention but still do okay if you miss a day here and there, especially in bigger pots.
The key is to use good soil, pots with drainage holes, and avoid overwatering in guilt. Low-maintenance plants plus realistic expectations make balcony gardening enjoyable instead of stressful.
